WaiACCELERATE USA: HACKATHON 2021 (sponsored by Intel)

WaiHackathon is an intensive entrepreneurship and technology event that connects the WAI community and global movement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Data Science with data-savvy peers. Technology and entrepreneurship will join forces for the attainment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030.

WaiHackathon USA 2021 is a 3-day "zero exclusion" hackathon that forges brave tech teams and changes the world by example. Our 2021 themes include social justice, equality, education, and any of the UN 17 SDs. We are "inclusion first", so our doors are open to any participants who are able to leverage entrepreneurial spirit, talent, AI, ML, and analytical skills to combat social problems.

Selection Criteria

Our mission is  "zero exclusion", because we cannot innovate until all genders, social groups, and minds are presented as voices and change agents of our communities.

That’s how we can work together on social injustice, income inequality, inaccessible healthcare, or educational system problems.

(OUR mechanism)

Our mechanism is a sustainable collaboration (not competition), because our goal is to connect and synergize efforts of diverse talent, skills, and micro-teams to jointly co-act, co-create, and co-mentor.

During the hackathon our teams will be able to connect these dots: find co-founders or like-minded peers, visualize their technology stacks and business models, and turn community problems into feasible and sustainable solutions.

Finally, they will present their pitch decks to our jury and experts.

Our format is a hackathon which is open both to all our peers in the US and beyond, because our goal is to involve all the passionate people who are ready to create an impact with technology and AI right here and right now.

During 3 days you will experience an intensive but at the same time engaging and diverse format which involves working with your team and peers. You will be learning from speakers and industry experts, spending individual sessions with mentors aligned with particular topics and expertise, and, finally participating in entertaining activities which will help you to reassess how you imagine the hackathon experience.

WAI made a global trace, connecting women and minority professionals. WaiHackathon is going further to show how to create an immediate impact.
