Women in AI Canada team is launching the WaiMentorship Program in order to facilitate mentors to connect with other women who are looking to advance their career in AI.

The main purpose of this program is to assist those women who are already in their early career or aspire to be in a career in AI to reach their desired career goals. 

We are looking to find mentors and mentees to create this community of mentorship.

Purpose

The purpose of the mentorship program is to create a community of two categories of women.

  • Women who already have careers in AI

  • Women who are interested or aspire to have careers in AI.

The main goal of the initiative is to assist women from both categories to advance quickly in the field of AI. It will be a platform where women from both categories can gain crucial skills needed for a successful career in AI

Entrepreneurship

Provide support to women envisioning to build their own AI startup.

Working Alone in the Office

Career and Development

Provide support to kick-start or grow your career in AI.

Employee Looking at Tablet

Leadership

Provide support to help women transition from technical to leadership roles.

  • AI ethics and Responsible AI

Mentorship Program Requirements

Entrepreneurship
Category

Mentors

  • Has successfully started a company that is Artificial Intelligence related, at least 2 years old and the company is still running successfully.

  • Must possess the following skills: listening, advocacy, and teaching.

 

 

 

 

Mentees

  • Interested or recently started a company that is artificial intelligence related.

AI Career & Development
Category

Mentors

  • Have at least 5 years of professional experience and at least 2 years in Artificial Intelligence related field.

  • Must be able to provide advice that will help mentee build and develop their career further.

  • Must possess the following skills: listening, advocacy, and teaching.

 

 

 

 

Mentees

  • Interested or recently started a career in artificial intelligence.

  • Interested in building and developing their careers in artificial intelligence

Leadership 
Category

Mentors

  • Must have been in a leadership role for at least 5 years and in Artificial Intelligence for at least 2 years, such as team leads, managers, directors, vice president, presidents, and C-suite executives.

  • Must be able to provide advice that will expose mentees to leadership opportunities and increase visibility

  • Must possess the following skills: listening, advocacy, and teaching.

 

Mentees

  • Interested in or recently transitioned to a leadership role in Artificial Intelligence.

  • Interested in building and developing their leadership skills.

How does it work?

Step 1

Register yourself to express interest in being a mentor or mentee 

Step 2

Mentorship team matches a mentee with a mentor based on their categories, areas of interest and goals.

Step 3

Mentorship team connects mentors and mentees

Step 4

Two mentorship sessions scheduled within three months 

Step 5

Filling in evaluation forms at the end of each mentorship sessions and feedback surveys at the end of program
