Women in AI North America is thrilled to announce the nominees who made it to the Finalists and Special Jury Awards for the Women in AI Awards North America 2023. In its second edition, 100+ women across Canada, USA and Mexico will be honored at the in-person award ceremony in Toronto, Canada. This year, we have 92 Finalists across 10 award categories and 11 Special Jury recognitions to be awarded at the ceremony. This celebration will also witness the BIGGEST reveal of winners of each award category.

Women in AI Awards Winner Reveal: Honors the Top Female Artificial Intelligence Innovators in North America

Women from across the US, Mexico and Canada came together virtually for the Women in AI Awards North America. The award festivities took place on May 13, 2022 and honored female pioneers who are paving new ways in the world of artificial intelligence (AI).
Some of the most iconic names in AI in Canada, including Mila, Amii and Vector Institute sponsored the awards. Through their generous sponsorships, and that of our strategic partners, GetCities, we are able to offer cash prizes to the winners and mementos to the runner-ups. We had amazing support system throughout the planning and implementation of our awards from our sponsors from USA - TopCoder, Paravision AI, Institute for Education and IVOW AI.

Dr. Gloria Washington's work in the AI space sets new standards. She is Assistant Professor at Howard University and Director of the effective Biometrics lab that has conducted ground breaking research on how one can identify people based on their physical and behavioural characteristics that focuses on social cultural social technical of identifying people that takes into account the cultural aspects of a person, and how community influences in individual's ways of how they do things and study marginalised AI. She asks the big questions and derives change through her myriad of published work as a scholar. She has been pivotal in creating the vision for WAI Awards NA and supports Women in AI NA as the Honorary Chair..

Dr. Yoshua Bengio is recognized worldwide as one of the leading experts in artificial intelligence, he is most known for his pioneering work in deep learning, earning him the 2018 A.M. Turing Award, “the Nobel Prize of Computing,” with Geoffrey Hinton and Yann LeCun.
Concerned about the social impact of AI and the objective that AI benefits all, he actively contributed to the Montreal Declaration for the Responsible Development of Artificial Intelligence.
