AEQUITAS project: Building AI That Is Truly Fair, Accountable, and Trustworthy

Artificial intelligence is shaping critical areas of our societies, from hiring and healthcare to education and public services. But while AI holds enormous potential, it can also inherit and reproduce the very inequalities we seek to eliminate.

At Women in AI, we are proud to be a partner in the AEQUITAS EU project, which is working to tackle these challenges head-on.

In this short demo video, AEQUITAS demonstrates how it is addressing algorithmic bias through:

• Interdisciplinary methods – combining insights from technology, law, and the social sciences.

• Participatory design – engaging stakeholders, including civil society organisations, to shape fairer outcomes.

• Real-world testing – building a controlled experimentation environment where AI systems can be tested, challenged, and corrected for fairness.

AEQUITAS goes beyond asking difficult questions about bias by building the tools and infrastructure to answer them in measurable ways.
