The DIVERSIFAIR project is concluding its three-year mandate with a final conference, "Fair AI in Practice," on Tuesday 19 May at the Ateliers des Tanneurs in Brussels.
As a partner in the DIVERSIFAIR consortium, Women in AI has contributed to the project’s mission of addressing intersectional fairness in AI systems. This event serves as a platform to share the project’s final results and discuss the practical implementation of inclusive AI governance.
WAI Representation in the Programme
Several members of the Women in AI leadership and community will be participating in the day’s discussions:
Adebola Olomo (Global Partnerships, WAI): Moderating the morning panel, "AI Is Not Neutral: Designing Systems That Work for Everyone," which examines how to build tech for a broader range of users.
Dr Laura Caroli (WAI Ambassador, Brussels): Participating as a panellist to discuss the design and regulation of fairer AI systems.
Dr Alessandra Sala (President of WAI): Delivering the closing keynote, "AI Excellence: Cultivating a Diverse Ecosystem," on the relationship between diversity and innovation.
Session Focus: Intersectional Fairness
The conference will present the project's work on intersectional fairness, looking at how different aspects of identity interact with AI outcomes. The agenda includes a mix of panel discussions and practical workshops, such as:
Teaching AI Fairness: A live demonstration for educators and trainers.
The Fair AI Scrum Workshop: A session on integrating ethics into technical lifecycles.
Community-Led AI Auditing: The launch of a new guide for involving stakeholders in system assessments.
